There are many horse riding stables across the length and breadth of the island. Most offer a range of treks for beginners or advanced riders.

In Cyprus snow skiing can be enjoyed from January to the end of March most years. There are two ski lifts on the north face of Mount Olympus, high up in the Troodos mountains, one being 350 metres long and the other 500 metres.

There are a further two ski lifts on the south face both at 150 metres long. For full details visit the web site on www.cyprusski.com for all up to date ski conditions and ski hire, which is sometimes of limited availability.

Cyprus is a natural mountain-biking place. The terrain offers many opportunities on different tracks. Due to the excellent weather conditions mountain biking can be enjoyed almost throughout the year. There are a variety of different road surfaces from rocky to clay and steep to flat, and different landscapes combining attractive beaches, modern cities, vineyards and old tranquil villages.

Bicycle hire is available in Pervolia at a cost of between CYP5-10 /day.

The four most popular water parks on the island are the Aphrodite Waterpark in Paphos, Fasouri Watermania Waterpark in Limassol, Water World in Agia Napa and The Fun Park in Protoras. All have special areas and rides for smaller children such as slides, fountains, water guns, and even a slippery octopus to climb. For the bigger children and brave and adventurous adults there are whirlpools, kamikaze slides, wave pools and water chutes plunging down into the darkness! They open daily at 10.00am from May to October. There are height restrictions on some slides.

In the centre of the island covering an area of 9337 hectares, the highest point is Chionistra or Olympos (1952 m) and the lowest is Moni forest (700m). The area is magical and suitable for hiking, skiing, mountain biking and picnics. Please remember that in Cyprus it is forbidden to drop litter or cut wild flowers and other plants

One of the first sights on leaving the airport is the beautiful salt lake, home to colonies of flamingos in the cooler months. Beside the lake is the Hala Sultan Tekesi, built to the memory of Prophet Mohammed's aunt. In Larnaca itself the old town is alive and bustling with shoppers. It has a pedestrian area, Zenon Kitieos, with many bars and restaurants. Visit the 17th century church of St.Lazarus with its own Byzantine museum.

Down at the waterfront pay a visit to the medieval museum in the grounds of Larnaca fort and have a leisurely stroll along the palm lined promenade to the marina.

We cannot recommend highly enough the benefits of simply wandering around the villages and exploring on foot. This is the best way to discover the local atmosphere and hidden gems of restaurants and shops. You never know what's around the next corner, or when a doorway will open up onto a flower filled courtyard. So, put on some suitable footwear, make sure you wear a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen and carry a bottle of water with you at all times.

This is just a selection of the activities available during your stay in Cyprus. However, you may be quite happy sitting by the pool and enjoying the sunshine. Whatever you choose to do we hope you have a wonderful holiday.
